We are very happy to announce that through our benefit art auction in cooperation with the artist Oksana Yushko, we were able to raise

EUR 10.407 EUR

in bids and direct donations.

This amount (after the costs for framing and postage have been deducted) will accrue to the Ukrainian NGO PROLISKA Humanitarian Mission, which evacuates people from the embattled villages in eastern Ukraine and provides humanitarian aid.

Our great thanks to the artist Oksana Yushko, who donated seven unique pieces to be auctioned off and to all the committed bidders and donors for their generous support, without which this success would not have been possible.

The Curonian Spit was formed by the sea, wind and human activity and continues to be shaped by them. In the 18th century forests were nearly destroyed by people. The villages were left defenseless and covered in sand. In the 19th century first environmental saviors started to plant mountain pines in the desert sand. Thus, forests and the spit have been recovered thanks to hard work of scientists and activists, and became a tourist’s attraction.

Numerous displacement experiments with a growing list of bird species have clearly shown that displacement birds can reach migratory destination even from unfamiliar regions situated aside from their routes. I love thinking that we, humans, being part of nature, also have such abilities to navigate in our world. Not only when we got lost, but when we couldn’t find our way in life, forgetting about our goals, dreams and real values.

We leave traces everywhere. Each and every action during our lives impacts our environment. Wherever we go we do leave a trace. But it’s up to us how to take the next step and make the world a little bit better.

Birds have little respect for borders. They have no patience. They have their goal and ability to fly. Each spring and autumn we watch their migration, and can’t resist their calls, daring to set out, like they do, into the world.
